This build represents a Hannover CL.111a 3879/18 of an unknown Schlachtstaffeln on the Western Front,1918.  The large four color lozenge pattern is based on info. from the kit instructions and reference photos. (other models, not real aircraft) It consists of painted and cut pieces of clear decal film. This method seemed to be better than masking it or painting it free hand. It doesn't quite match the pattern from the instructions, but none of the photos that I found did either, so I guess it's the way I would have wanted it to look if I had been the pilot. The five color pattern on the wings is a Techmod product which was a bit tricky to work with, as it had a nasty problem of not sticking to anything, including the backing paper. I solved the problem by laying it on wet Tamiya clear acrylic. The 45 deg. off set is based on reference info. for two seat machines.

The kit itself is very basic and lacks a good deal of detail. (good decals though) The guns were enhanced rather than replaced. The engine needed to have the exhaust lengthened and repositioned. I simulated the rocker arms and rad lines with hobby wire and E string.  I also made the inboard main wing struts, tail wing struts and all control mechs.  All control surfaces were repositioned.

The bracing wires and control cables are 2 lb. test fishing line, painted silver. In this scale this much rigging is a challenge, but worth the effort. The prop looks good too, done with colored markers.
