In 1943, the Dornier Company designed the base DO p.252.
The primary specification called for it to be a multi-seated fighter. Several variations were planned.
A twin engine plane with as much as a three man crew had been projected. Radar installation was an option.
Easily, this could have developed into a night fighter or a path finder against allied bombers.
The aircraft built here is designated DO p.252.3.02. It is a single seat, single engine fighter.
Like many other German aeronautical projects, it never progressed beyond the planning stage.

The model converted is the 1/72 DML 335B-6 Arrow.
It was bought on the internet for less than $10 (including shipping). A lot of sawing, bondo pasting and sanding was done to complete the shape of the fuselage.
The fuselage was cut and extended, the wings were adjusted so as to give it a 22 degree angle, the front engine was cut off and replace with a rounded shape, and the engine air intake was cut off and attached to the top of the fuselage. The wing air intakes were more challenging.
I had to move away from plastic and use a wood dowel. I hand drilled the middle to the dowel to get the circular part needed for the intake port.
The rear propeller was just a merger of both the front and rear propellers of the original model. No changes were made to the landing gears.

For the paint scheme, I created several designs using MS Paint.
I copied the picture of the plane from the internet to my computer and went at it.
The paint scheme I finally settled on was inspired by the F-22 Raptor. As with my other models, nothing fancy. Just spray paint canisters you can buy at any hardware store.
