This is the
1/350 Aoshima Thunderbird 2 and launch bay from the British TV series. I
found this kit online and thought it would make an interesting build. The
Thunderbird vehicle has exactly the same parts as all of the other Aoshima
Thunderbird 2s and the bay is a simple two wall affair with some detail
parts.
I initially decided to rescribe all the panel lines but
after looking at some pictures I realised that they were not present
on the studio model so I sanded them all down. The fit of the model
is terrible. I used an entire tube of putty to fill the massive step on
the sides and behind the cockpit. The three pods are even worse. The panel
lines do not line up and after a failed attempt to bend them to align I
gave up and left them.

The base was the easiest part of the build, with only two
walls to glue to the foam base followed by some decals and detail parts.
The scribing is far too deep - in real life they would be as deep as a man
is tall!
I painted both the base and ship with Tamiya acrylic; the
green was a mix of Nato Green and Light Green in a 1:2 ratio. The model
was preshaded but without any other weathering.
.
Hope you like the
model and any comments are welcome.
