Hello again and this time I'm bringing a big and beautiful Phantom with the 108th TFW in the 141st TFS of the New Jersey Air National Guard. This Revell/Monogram kit (4668) was an awesome build that required very little putty and sanding. I had to treat the decals with decal bonding spray as the decals were very aged and fragile. I managed to save most of them, but a few were lost during the process. The cockpit detail was good and it has two choices so no aftermarket cockpit was purchased for this build. I used the following aftermarket items as I wanted to build a respectable looking model of this venerable aircraft:

  • Verlinden, Martin Baker ejection seats

  • Eduard, F-4 Phantom placards

  • Master, F-4 Pitot and angle of attack probe

  • Two Bobs, Aim-7 decals

I used Model Master FS 36081 (dark grey), FS 34079 (dark green), and FS 34102 (medium green) paints for the wrap around tri-color scheme. For the tail section I used MM's titanium and aluminum metalizer paints. The kit was lightly weathered with Pro-Modeler black wash as I only wanted to accentuate the panel lines. The paint and decals were sealed in with an application of MM's Mattlack Dullcote. I opened up some of the vents such as the ones close to the exhaust, the underbelly, and front side of the aircraft. I added some barrels in the front opening where the cannon is located at.

As with most of my aircraft, I gave this one a full weapons load which includes two AIM-7M Sparrow, two AIM-120 AMRAAM and four AIM 9J Sidewinder missiles. I also placed the large center-line and two wing mounted external fuel tanks, and painted then with he wrap around color scheme of the aircraft.

I truly love the final product and I hope that you enjoy the photos.
