MiG 15 Bis Chinese People Republic AF

Here is the Trumpeter Mig 15, which I built OOB for an online contest. If not the total crap online-rewiewers have been describing, the kit certainly has fitting issues, requiring careful test fitting, lotsa putty and careful sanding. Plastic is soft, panel lines are finely recessed, and overall shapes and dimensions, as well as level of details is ratting better than the Tamiya offering. Cokpit and seat are well detailed. As in the Tamiya kit, rear fuselage and engine can be displayed open for maintenance.

Scheme is for a machine piloted by a chinese volunteer during Korea war. I'm definitely not sure of the white outline of the tactical number, as most other Warsaw pact airplanes and Chinese as well don't have it. Decals are a mix of PD Models and Superscale. Paints are the Gunze shades for the SEA Scheme, while undersides are German WWII RLM 65, "broken" with a tad of grey. It was sprayed free hand using an old Tamiya airbrush. Weathering was maintained to a minimum, and made using acrylic inks from the Hansa range (the color kit used for railways weathering).

Gun pack is fairly well detailed, even if lacking all of the wiring (which I didn't add, due to OOB rules); it was setted in place using a plastic rod; The MiG 15 is a die-hard tail-seater, and I had to place lead bits everywhere : radio compartment in the nose, side of the air intake channels, and, even in the gun-pack bay.

The Trumpeter offering is cheaper (at least here in France) and build as a nice rendition of the MiG. More, there are tons of exotic schemes allowing the Modeler t to express its talents. I hope you'll enjoy it.
