The plane took off
from Kirkenes for a bombing raid aginst the ship, A.Marti on 17th February,
1943. During the mission, this Ju88 was hit by AA fire and had to belly-land at
Kinnaroden. Later, Germans stripped all useful equipment from the plane for
later use. In 1998, the wreckage got into the posession of the Norwegian
Aviation Museum and an expedition was set up to transport back the remains to
the museum in 1999. What is known about the fate of the plane is that the
fuselage was shipped to Károly Bencsák Restoration Shop at Héreg, Hungary in
10th February 2004.

The model came from
Revell (this is the same kit as the Dragon offering but the PE parts are
replaced with plastic molds) and only the main components were used from the
kit. To detail the engines and the firewalls, I used Aires resin sets. Cockpit,
fuselage and wings were all enhanced with home made additions.
After finishing the vignette, it
received 1st place in it's category and Best of Show award in the IXth
International Model Show and Competition in Mosonmagyarovar, Hungary in 2005.
