Here is my Academy
1/48 P-26A Peashooter built in Philippine Army Air Corps markings
during the outbreak of World War II. The kit was built straight out
of the box with just minor modifications. I mixed automotive
lacquer paints for the True Blue 23 Fuselage and Chrome Yellow wings.
I used Gunze's Mr. Color #304 for the Olive Drab oversprays and #326 for
the cowling and lightened it with a tad of white. The model was
built straight out of the box and I used a combination of stretched sprue
and surgical needles for the rigging. Decals and markings were
made using my printer.

When the P-26As
were transferred to the PAAC in mid 1941 most them retained their US
liveries. All of them came from the US 3rd
Pursuit and 17th Pursuit Squadron which were also based in the P.I. when
they transitioned to newer aircraft such as P-35As and
P-40s. Twelve (12) of the P-26s were transferred to the
PAAC and equipped the 6th Pursuit Squadron. The model depicts
#302 based at Batangas Field in late December 1941. Some of the
P-26s were in the process of being repainted while other still flew in US
liveries with a combination of the PAAC Diamond markings when the war
broke out. This one had its US markings over painted with Olive Drab
and was in the process of receiving its camouflage when it was quickly
pressed into service.
Cheers and
Happy Modeling!!!
