This Sea King
was just completed for the ARC Helicopter group build. It is the Hasegawa
Sea King back dated to a early Royal Canadian Navy Sea King circa 1962.
The first 3 Sea Kings used by the RCN were built in the American plant.
The remaining Sea Kings were all manufactured in Canada. The early Sea
King was roughly equal to the American HS-3D.

Most of the
model is OO B.
To make the model more Canadian I used Belcher Bits resin
set #1. The resin sponsoons were used as was the very nice Belcher bits
decal set which includes markings for 3 different eras of Canadian Sea
KIng. With this model I have at long last used every decal option that
comes in the set.
Sea King 4003
(12403 after 1970) did not have the airbag on the sponsoons as represented
by the very nice Belcher Bits resin replacement. Out came the dremil for a
painful removal. Other things changed: No FOD protection. A much
shorter vertical stabilizer. Both pitot tubes on the right side of the roof
as opposed to one on each side. Filling in of the centre refueling point.
Removal of the port forward window, and the deletion of a large amount of
the underbelly attachments.
The part I like is
the weird paint scheme. Navy camouflage with huge dayglow orange areas.
Talk
about contrast.
