Hi, this is a model of a Viking I
completed about three years ago. The model is the old Hasegawa kit, with
superficial detail and raised panel lines. I built it OOB, just added lots of
pieces of plastic, streched sprue and metal bits and pieces.
For the cockpit I took the
ejection seats from a Fujimi TA-4 box and added seatbelts and other
details. I wanted to have the stairs in the open position, so I cut through
the plastic blocking the interior from the airstairs-bay in the kit, and made
a spartan rendering of the aft compartment, because it would be too dark
inside to see it properly.
The landing-gear well interiors were
improved with mostly streched sprue. The folding steps on the side of the
starboard rear fuselage were fixed down. Lastly, most time-consuming were the
folding wings. The folding mechanism and wing 'insides' were made with
plastic, copper wire and plastic sheet. I learned a lot from this phase, next
time I'll have to give more attention to details like this.

I decided very late in the
process on the colours this Hoover would have. Or rather, the lack of
colours, namely a grey bird from VS-32 on board the USS America during
the early nineties. I used a Superscale sheet for the job, after
painting with good old Humbrol enamels. Weathering with the dry-brush
technique with a small brush was done between two flat cotes.
Hope you like the model!
