1/32 F-5B (kitbashing??)

When I bought the 1/32 Collect Aire T-38 kit, I thought of converting it into an F-5B but after looking it thru I saw that it'd be a whole lots of work to modify it and also a waste of money ( I paid US $200.00 for the kit). So I came up with an idea of making a mold of the T-38 kit and use it to kitbash with Belcher bit F-5A conversion kit. At least I still have the T-38 kit untouched and save it until I have the urge to build the USAF Talon.

I enlisted a friend of mine's help to make copies of the Talon body, cockpit, canopy frames. Luckily, Collect Aire included 2 sets of vacuform canopy so a set was used for this F-5B. A donor kit of Kangnam F-5E was to complete the job!! The hardest part is to fit the vacuform into the canopy frames with all the cutting and fitting.

"My" F-5B in this case belongs to 522nd FS of VNAF 3rd Division based in Bien Hoa Air base. The forever distinctive checkerboard band of 23rd FW decal is home made and so is the girl's head decal. Thanks for checking out this article, I hope you enjoy it!!
